About Natural Henna Artist Melbourne
ABOUT HENNA
Henna (Mehendi) is a form of traditional ceremonial body art that can also be done for purely decorative purposes! Ever since I went to Morocco in July and had my first henna experience, I was totally curious about this beautiful art, which is traditional to Northern African women (as well as India). Then, during my time in Hungary I learned how to make and play with henna at Ozora festival in August last year. I have fallen in love with creating this beautiful art, and feel so happy to share it with you!
INGREDIENTS
I use ALL natural ingredients and make henna fresh! Henna is a plant, so I use high quality powdered henna leaves, which I mix up myself into a paste with lemon juice and Eucalyptus essential oil. I make the mix the night before to allow time for the henna to develop, and the use of oils brings out a strong colour that lasts well.
DESIGNS/HOW I WORK
I work mainly intuitively i.e. I prefer the artwork to create itself by tuning into your lovely self, and allowing the henna to flow naturally. I also work from inspiration! If you have seen something you love, or have a design for me to interpret myself, please bring it with you.
If you have a particular intention you would like me to anchor to you e.g. protection, freedom, love, gratitude, or whatever you feel you wish to bring to yourself, we can also work with that!
BEST PLACES TO GET HENNA DONE
The skin on the palms of your hands and tops of your feet will always create a darker and often longer lasting henna design. You can get henna done almost anywhere on your body, and if you just want a subtle looking design, areas such as the back, neck, arms, legs, shoulders will give you that effect.
HOW LONG DOES HENNA LAST?
Usually around 1-3 weeks. It depends on many things: your skin - oils/dryness/thickness, where the henna is on your body, what it comes into contact with (alcohol, moisturiser, handwash etc will cause it to fade more quickly) and how you look after it!
